In July of 2006, Kodomo no Jikan was licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment for a western release under the name Nymphet.[1] It was scheduled to release in December of the same year, however it was suddenly delayed to sometime in 2007 for unknown reasons. On May 30, 2007, Nymphet was cancelled and was never released; this was the result of an official press release made one day prior regarding the backlash and controversy surrounding the title, as well as issues concerning the profitability of the publication after book vendors and chains refused to allow the title in their stores.[2] However, it has been confirmed a limited number of copies of the first volume were printed before the cancellation, as an Amazon listing is up to this day stating "Out of Print--Limited Availability."[3] In May of 2016, Digital Manga re-licensed Kodomo no Jikan and pitched the idea to Kickstarter with a pledge goal of $157,000.[4] With backing from the Kaworu herself, the project, for the most part, was a success. The Kickstarter page implies that at one point they were planning for physical releases, however due to backlash Kodomo no Jikan is only available via ebook on their Project Hentai website.
